About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant with a focus on environmental and social compliance to join its growing and agile Environmental Planning team. The role requires a technical expert in areas such as environment, social, and biodiversity, with proven experience in delivering complex Environmental and Social Due Diligence (ESDD) and Long-Term Monitoring (ESLTM) for bankable projects globally. The position involves providing strategic direction for ESDD and ESLTM delivery, driving consistency and high-quality outputs, and leading the pursuit of new projects with existing and new clients. The role also requires utilizing technical expertise for project delivery, supporting multidisciplinary projects, and evaluating them against international standards like IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, and World Bank Group Environmental Health and Safety Guidelines.

Requirements

• Masters’ degree or higher in an appropriate area of science.
• 15 or more years' relevant experience with substantial experience in Environmental Planning and Social Compliance, specifically in ESDD and ESLTM consultancy work.
• Experience in a specific relevant technical discipline (e.g., environment, social, biodiversity, etc.).
• Proven track record of pursuing and securing new business opportunities.
• Experience developing and executing discipline-specific business strategies.
• Experience realizing cross-sector growth opportunities.
• Strong commercial acumen.
• Key account management experience.
• Ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with senior-level clients and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
• Externally recognized as a leader in their field.
• Expert knowledge of international standards and frameworks such as the IFC Performance Standards, Equator Principles, World Bank Group Environmental, Health and Safety Guidelines, and other applicable Good International Industry Practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic direction for ESDD and ESLTM delivery nationally and internationally as an independent environmental and social consultant (IESC).
• Drive consistency and high-quality outputs in ESDD and ESLTM delivery.
• Lead the pursuit of new projects with existing and new clients, including international financial institutions (IFI).
• Utilize technical expertise for the delivery of ESDD and ESLTM projects.
• Play a key role in the successful delivery of multidisciplinary projects.
• Support the review and evaluation of projects with respect to adherence to international standards.
• Drive the quality of IESC delivery across programmatic portfolios by establishing best practices and approving project deliverables.
• Contribute to business development, bidding activities, and project delivery efforts.
• Address delivery opportunities and challenges across the portfolio.
• Strengthen key client relationships and identify cross-selling opportunities.
• Collaborate with technical experts to define clear accountabilities.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor through technical reviews, mission participation, stakeholder meetings, and reporting activities.
• Maintain strong client engagement by gathering regular feedback for continuous improvement.
• Support Sector Leads in business development and sales initiatives.
