About The Position

The Enterprise Strategic Service team exists to define and facilitate the strategic planning process; develop, articulate, and adapt the company’s strategic plan; and support critical strategic initiatives in their formation of recommendations and implementation plans, working closely with leaders and subject matter experts from across the business. We support this work with competitive intelligence and market trend insights, and track our progress to inform and facilitate ongoing prioritization of efforts across the organization. The Consultant will support development of our strategy and strategic initiatives by performing market analyses, business case formation, facilitation support, spanning the work of Strategy, Innovation Business Planning and Competitive Intelligence that are part of the overall Enterprise Strategic Services team. The Consultant will embrace new ideas and ways of working as we advance the BCBSMA strategy and innovation agenda. This position is eligible for the flex persona. The successful candidate will be required to work from the Boston office 2 days per week. This may change based on business need.

Requirements

  • Strong consulting skills with a proven ability to analyze complex business problems, develop strategic and innovative solutions, and guide partners through ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated AI fluency, with an understanding of and experience in experimenting with emerging AI technologies, particularly agentic AI, to solve business challenges and perform at “top of license” with AI efficiencies.
  • Exceptional research and data analysis skills, with the ability to synthesize complex qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights and compelling narratives.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI) and research platforms is required.
  • Proven expertise in conducting and synthesizing both quantitative and qualitative research to generate actionable insights on consumer behavior and key market trends.
  • Excellent qualitative, quantitative, written, and oral communication skills with a proven ability to develop and deliver persuasive presentations to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Strong organizational, project, and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage a portfolio of multiple projects.
  • Excels at building strong, trusted partnerships with diverse stakeholders in a highly collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in healthcare, consulting, or technology with an undergraduate degree; OR 3+ years of relevant experience with an MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree.
  • Experience in the health insurance industry is strongly preferred.
  • Google Gemini suite of AI tools (and/or other similar AI tools), advanced documentation and presentation development skills (e.g., PowerPoint), project management tools (e.g, Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet).
  • High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agile methodology is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Strategy & Innovation team members in scoping, planning and execution of strategy efforts. This may include problem development, valuation and business case development, work planning, market research, scenario development and recommendation summaries.
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research on market trends, the competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform strategic recommendations and identify new opportunities.
  • Engage with stakeholders and leaders across the business to understand challenges, forge relationships, and shape / pitch prioritized ideas to secure approval and funding.
  • Drive the advancement of strategy & innovation initiatives from gathering consumer insights and generating ideas to prototyping and piloting new solutions.
  • In support of the strategy and competitive intelligence functions, conduct qualitative secondary research, collecting information from a variety of sources and synthesizing key findings.
  • Leverage studies from team and business to ensure recommendations are informed.
