About The Position

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Capital Markets Technology group within the Credit Adjudication Technology team. As a Consultant, Database Management, you will be responsible for developing physical database models for database management systems, providing subject matter expertise in production and non-production databases for data development and maintenance. The role works on complex issues involving one or more technical areas, mentoring employees in database development and ensuring consistency and integration with existing database infrastructure. At CIBC, we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience in Oracle, Postgres, SQL Server with hands-on activities in Conceptual Modeling, Logical Modeling, Physical Modeling, Data Quality Assurance, Database tuning and Performance Optimization, Database backup and recovery, and Code Implementation.
  • Develop conceptual models that represent the data requirements at a high level.
  • Create logical models that specify the relationships between data entities and attributes.
  • Design the physical implementation of the database, including tables, columns, and indexes.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Monitor database performance, identify issues, and optimize database performance.
  • Develop disaster recovery plans and perform routine data backups.
  • Write, test, and maintain SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Analyze and tune specific queries for performance and efficiency.
  • Developing Linux/Unix shell scripts to automate data loading, system monitoring, backups, and maintenance tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of ETL skills, Agile, Scrum, OOP knowledge, data warehouse, mining, Informatica basics, Data Bricks, Edge, ADF, Cloud technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate complex database modeling in Oracle and Postgres databases.
  • Design the application's data infrastructure using data modeling tools, utilities, and testing approaches.
  • Lead the design, development & management of cost-effective and innovative solutions.
  • Engage in designing, developing and maintaining database systems to meet organizational requirements.
  • Work on assigned tasks individually including database management, performance monitoring, troubleshooting, documentation and collaboration.
  • Develop multi-year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business objectives.
  • Lead multiple complex projects involving backend systems, new technology, and the enhancement of existing applications.
  • Effectively interact with stakeholders, end users, business analysts, and technical resources to gather requirements, prepare design specifications, and provide technical support for applications, as instructed by senior team members.
  • Act as the database developer and administrator, and run discussions with the wider team to ensure the project is on track to meet objectives.
  • Support and mentor intermediate and senior peers by sharing knowledge, collaborating and problem solving.
