About The Position

This role is for a Consultant within Nationwide Financial, a Fortune 100 company. The position focuses on reporting, data analytics, and business innovation within the insurance and financial services industry. The consultant will provide subject matter expertise, conduct competitive industry analysis, and represent business stakeholder interests within product and journey teams. Key responsibilities include measuring progress against business outcomes, ensuring technology solutions align with business strategy, and supporting the Business Capability Owner by examining processes and practices. The role requires an entrepreneurial spirit, agility, and a passion for driving improvement and solving needs. Additionally, the role involves designing and building AWD workflow reports, dashboards, and scorecards to provide visibility into operational metrics. It requires translating business questions into reporting solutions, standardizing metric definitions, and partnering with AWD configurators and subject matter experts. Collaboration with product and business partners to define and monitor KPIs is also a key aspect. The consultant will contribute throughout the solution lifecycle, from defining requirements to ensuring reporting solutions align with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Experience in reporting, data research, or related data analytical work.
  • Strong ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into reporting or analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with reporting tools, query-based applications, or analytical platforms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and support business decisions with meaningful insights.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adapt as business needs evolve.
  • Experience supporting AWD workflows, AWD data, or AWD-related business processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Data & Analytics technologies: Power BI, Snowflake, Dataiku or other data visualization technologies
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards, scorecards, or self-service reporting solutions.
  • Bachelors degree in business, IT or related field with advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically, 7 or more years of demonstrated experience delivering initiatives and conducting customer research to inform value-based solutions.
  • Experience delivering work in an agile environment, leveraging product-centric principles and managing large scale initiatives with multiple dependencies.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance industry.
  • In depth understanding of agile planning practices and customer centric design.
  • Strong command of verbal and written communication skills in addition to facilitation techniques.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information and summarize for consumption by all levels.
  • Ability to develop recommendations and influence the strategic vision and multi-year product roadmap.
  • Strong business process design skills and ability to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work interpedently and manage large, complex tasks that span different subject matters.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build AWD workflow reports, dashboards, and scorecards that provide visibility into operational metrics such as volumes, backlogs, service levels, and NIGO.
  • Translate business and stakeholder questions into reporting solutions that support both operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Standardize metric definitions and reporting views to create a consistent source of truth across AWD reporting.
  • Partner with AWD configurators and other subject matter experts to align reporting outputs with underlying workflow data structures and configuration design.
  • Collaborate with product and business partners to define, operationalize, and monitor KPIs that support adoption, benefit realization, and business outcome measurement.
  • Contribute throughout the solution lifecycle by helping define requirements, supporting prioritization, and ensuring reporting solutions align with business objectives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to inform business outcomes.
  • Provide competitive industry analysis for a product and journey across multiple lines of business.
  • Represent the interests of all business stakeholders within the broader product and journey team.
  • Measure progress against business outcomes and timelines, ensuring the technology solution aligns to the business strategy and delivers expected business benefit measured by adoption of changes.
  • Provide key support and insights to the Business Capability Owner, representing the customer point of view while also examining processes and practices to determine how to best support the outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Business Capability Owner on prioritization and develop requirements throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure business objectives and solution vision are being met.
  • Conduct competitive analysis on customer, product landscape and business segment specific competitors across multiple lines of business and experiences.
  • Present findings and recommendations to Business Capability Managers and/or Owners.
  • Assess organizational impact for organizational change management planning.
  • Coordinate communication and training and is accountable for overall business readiness.
  • Provide recommendations to the Business Capability Manager and/or Owner and agile team.
  • Keep up on the latest industry trends as well as customer needs and behaviors.
  • Serve as a source of expertise for direction, mentoring and guidance for less experienced analysts.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies, daily stand ups, show and tells, iteration planning and retrospectives.
  • Partner with Business Capability Manager to define KPIs that measure effectiveness of the product and journey with customers.
  • Work with team to identify areas focus and provides insights to product and journey owner for prioritization.
  • Lead and execute design and development on business configurable tools where applicable in support of operational partners.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
