About The Position

This role is for a Consultant within Nationwide Financial's Business Capability Team management group, focusing on reporting and data analytics. The individual will provide subject matter expertise to inform business outcomes, conduct competitive industry analysis, and represent the interests of business stakeholders. The role involves measuring progress against business outcomes, ensuring technology solutions align with business strategy, and delivering expected business benefits. The Consultant will support the Business Capability Owner, represent the customer point of view, and examine processes to best support outcomes. This is a G4 band role.

Requirements

  • Experience in reporting, data research, or related data analytical work.
  • Strong ability to gather requirements and translate business needs into reporting or analytical solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working with reporting tools, query-based applications, or analytical platforms.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple levels of the organization.
  • Ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and support business decisions with meaningful insights.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage competing priorities, and adapt as business needs evolve.
  • Experience supporting AWD workflows, AWD data, or AWD-related business processes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Data & Analytics technologies: Power BI, Snowflake, Dataiku or other data visualization technologies
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards, scorecards, or self-service reporting solutions.
  • Bachelors degree in business, IT or related field with advanced degree preferred.
  • Typically, 7 or more years of demonstrated experience delivering initiatives and conducting customer research to inform value-based solutions.
  • Experience delivering work in an agile environment, leveraging product-centric principles and managing large scale initiatives with multiple dependencies.
  • Deep knowledge of insurance industry.
  • In depth understanding of agile planning practices and customer centric design.
  • Strong command of verbal and written communication skills in addition to facilitation techniques.
  • Ability to analyze quantitative and qualitative information and summarize for consumption by all levels.
  • Ability to develop recommendations and influence the strategic vision and multi-year product roadmap.
  • Strong business process design skills and ability to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to work interpedently and manage large, complex tasks that span different subject matters.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build AWD workflow reports, dashboards, and scorecards that provide visibility into operational metrics such as volumes, backlogs, service levels, and NIGO.
  • Translate business and stakeholder questions into reporting solutions that support both operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Standardize metric definitions and reporting views to create a consistent source of truth across AWD reporting.
  • Partner with AWD configurators and other subject matter experts to align reporting outputs with underlying workflow data structures and configuration design.
  • Collaborate with product and business partners to define, operationalize, and monitor KPIs that support adoption, benefit realization, and business outcome measurement.
  • Contribute throughout the solution lifecycle by helping define requirements, supporting prioritization, and ensuring reporting solutions align with business objectives.
  • Collaborates with Business Capability Owner on prioritization and develops requirements throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure business objectives and solution vision are being met.
  • Conducts competitive analysis on customer, product landscape and business segment specific competitors across multiple lines of business and experiences.
  • Presents findings and recommendations to Business Capability Managers and/or Owners.
  • Assesses organizational impact for organizational change management planning.
  • Coordinates communication and training and is accountable for overall business readiness.
  • Provides recommendations to the Business Capability Manager and/or Owner and agile team.
  • Keeps up on the latest industry trends as well as customer needs and behaviors.
  • Serves as a source of expertise for direction, mentoring and guidance for less experienced analysts.
  • Participates in agile ceremonies, daily stand ups, show and tells, iteration planning and retrospectives.
  • Partners with Business Capability Manager to define KPIs that measure effectiveness of the product and journey with customers.
  • Works with team to identify areas focus and provides insights to product and journey owner for prioritization.
  • Leads and execute design and development on business configurable tools where applicable in support of operational partners.
  • May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
