About The Position

Roland Berger is seeking Consultants to join their Automotive Practice in Chicago, Detroit, or Boston. This role offers the chance to collaborate with leading automakers, automotive suppliers, mobility players, and technology companies during a period of significant industry disruption. The practice focuses on helping clients navigate challenges and opportunities related to electrification, autonomous driving, software-defined vehicles, new ownership models, and evolving global supply chains. Consultants are encouraged to be entrepreneurial, take initiative, solve complex problems, and contribute meaningfully from day one.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1–2 years of relevant professional experience, ideally in consulting, automotive, industrials, mobility, technology, energy, analytics, engineering, or another quantitatively oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical ability, curiosity, and the capacity to learn quickly are highly valued.
  • Understanding of various industry business models and key dynamics.
  • Understanding of Consulting or Service environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative analysis methods and techniques.
  • Ability to think independently and take initiative in the face of ambiguity.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD/MA/MS in relevant field, quantitative and analytically oriented fields such as Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Sciences, or Economics are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze market, financial, operational, and client data to identify insights and develop recommendations.
  • Structure complex business problems into clear workstreams, hypotheses, and analyses.
  • Build financial models, business cases, and quantitative analyses to support strategic decisions.
  • Apply sound judgment in synthesizing research, interviews, market data, and client information into clear findings.
  • Prepare compelling client presentations that communicate insights, implications, and recommendations.
  • Support and participate in client meetings, interviews, and workshops.
  • Develop realistic work plans with clear deliverables, timelines, and ownership.
  • Build knowledge of automotive industry trends, business models, and competitive dynamics.
  • Work effectively with project teams, clients, and colleagues across different levels, functions, and geographies.
  • Contribute to internal initiatives such as business development, recruiting, training, and knowledge development.
  • Take an active role in your own development by seeking feedback, applying coaching, and sharing lessons learned with colleagues.
  • Use approved AI tools to support research, analysis, and deliverable development, while helping shape how AI is applied responsibly and effectively in the future of consulting.
