About The Position

The Consultant, Annuity Data Analyst serves as a strategic partner between the Annuity business, technology teams, Enterprise Data Office (EDO), and Data Governance organizations. This role leads complex, cross-functional data initiatives that translate business strategy into actionable data, technology, and operational solutions. Operating with a high degree of independence, the Consultant leverages deep annuity domain expertise and strong analytical skills to shape data priorities, improve data quality, support modernization efforts, and drive business adoption of enterprise data capabilities. The role plays a critical part in ensuring annuity data is trusted, governed, accessible, and aligned to business objectives. Success in this role requires the ability to navigate ambiguity, influence across multiple stakeholder groups, and connect data solutions to measurable business outcomes.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Approximately 7+ years of experience leading business and technology-enabled data initiatives.
Experience managing or influencing product backlogs, prioritization activities, defect management, roadmap planning, and requirements development.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex and ambiguous business needs into actionable data and technology solutions.
Proven ability to operate independently and exercise sound judgment in a complex, cross-functional environment.
Deep understanding of annuity administrative systems, data structures, and the relationship between upstream and downstream business processes.
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred.
Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.
Five to eight years of relevant experience delivering Technology enabled business solutions.
Experience leading small to medium-scale initiatives across business and technology teams.
Experience with product roadmap development, prioritizing business cases, SQL and Python preferred.
Insurance and annuity industry experience.
Familiarity with annuity administration platforms such as PALLM, CALIPSO, and CIS.
Data application and practices knowledge.
Sound decision making.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritize, facilitate large meetings, influence senior leaders, resolve conflict, negotiate and coach others.

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting data governance, data stewardship, and enterprise data management initiatives.
Experience with data migration, modernization, or large-scale transformation programs.
Knowledge of Snowflake or other enterprise data platforms.
Insurance and annuity industry experience.
Familiarity with annuity administration platforms such as PALLM, CALIPSO, and CIS.
Certifications are not required, CSPO, SAFe POPM, PSPO or equivalent designation preferred.
Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary business liaison across Annuity business partners, Information Technology, Enterprise Data Office, and Data Governance teams to support ongoing data initiatives and issue resolution.
Translate business objectives into actionable data requirements, business rules, user stories, backlog items, process impacts, and delivery priorities.
Lead business-side definition, prioritization, and execution of annuity data initiatives, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and operational needs.
Facilitate cross-functional discussions to drive consensus, resolve issues, and establish priorities across multiple stakeholder groups.
Partner with Data Governance and Data Stewardship teams to establish and promote effective governance practices, standards, and controls.
Define, validate, and monitor data quality controls related to conversions, workflows, defects, and migration activities.
Lead efforts to identify, prioritize, and remediate data quality issues impacting reporting, operations, and stakeholder confidence.
Drive adoption of enterprise data solutions by ensuring data is understandable, accessible, and trusted by business users.
Partner with technology teams on PALLM modernization initiatives, data migrations, and related transformation efforts.
Serve as Product Owner for assigned technology workstreams, as needed, providing business direction and backlog prioritization.
Guide the design and organization of annuity data within Snowflake and other enterprise platforms to support reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
Assess upstream and downstream impacts across annuity administrative systems and related operations to ensure successful solution implementation.
Analyze data flows, business processes, and system dependencies across platforms such as PALLM, CALIPSO, and CIS.
Evaluate business use cases and identify opportunities where data enhancements can improve operational efficiency, reduce risk, and generate business value.
Connect business requirements with technology execution while balancing strategic objectives against day-to-day delivery demands.
Support stakeholder understanding, adoption, and effective use of annuity data assets and reporting capabilities.
Lead through influence rather than formal authority.
Drive alignment among business, data, governance, and technology stakeholders.
Translate ambiguity into clear, prioritized actions and delivery plans.
Champion data quality, governance, and business adoption initiatives.
Enable successful migration and modernization efforts by ensuring solutions reflect business rules, process dependencies, and stakeholder needs.
Build trusted partnerships and facilitate decision-making across organizational boundaries.
Executes on the solution vision/roadmap.
Serves as the customer and business proxy to developers and agile delivery teams for a single data product/experience impacting a single line of business.
Actively participates in daily scrum meetings, grooming meetings, project status meetings, sprint planning and review meetings.
Drives near-term milestone planning by overlaying the prioritized backlog against fixed-time blockers (monthly/quarterly) to help manage interdependencies and coordination across development teams.
Responsible for applying secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.
Participates in planning and execution of user acceptance testing, triage issues and works with development team to resolve.
Manages all communications related to data product between Technology line, business stakeholders and work requestors, resolving blockers/risks on behalf of business, with some supervision.
Conducts/coordinates User Acceptance Testing.
Defines, monitors and analyzes metrics that reflect the quality and success of the data solution(s).
Serves as steward for data product, providing end-to-end subject matter expertise, including related up- and downstream systems and processes.
Acts as governance advocate, ensuring data metrics are understood and leveraged as intended by business users.
Responsible for ongoing data accuracy, including defect reporting. prioritization and resolution.
Assists in the governance of all data access requests and has final right of refusal for accesses.
Defines, prioritizes and grooms the agile delivery team's product backlog to ensure continuous delivery, as well as develops, prioritizes and manages epics and user stories for the development team.
May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
