About The Position

The Construction Technology Specialist supports field operations by managing and utilizing advanced GPS, surveying, and construction technology. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate site data, supporting field crews and equipment operators, and using technology to improve project accuracy, efficiency, and productivity. The specialist serves as a technical resource between field operations, project management, and estimating to ensure reliable information is available throughout all phases of construction.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in construction technology, GPS surveying/layout, heavy civil construction, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of GPS systems, surface modeling, machine control, and jobsite localization.
  • Experience with drone operations, topographic mapping, photogrammetry, and site data collection.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand civil engineering plans, grading plans, and construction drawings.
  • Working knowledge of earthwork takeoffs, cut/fill calculations, and quantity tracking.
  • Strong computer and technical skills with the ability to learn and troubleshoot construction software and field technology.
  • Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, communication, and time-management skills with the ability to work independently and with a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Trimble, AGTEK, HCSS, CAD, PROPELLAR, or comparable construction technology preferred.
  • FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate and proven drone experience
  • Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Surveying, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments, regularly transitioning between the office and local active construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and support GPS rovers, base stations, jobsite localization, and machine-control systems.
  • Upload and verify models used by equipment operators and field crews.
  • Troubleshoot GPS/model issues and provide field training and technical support.
  • Plan and perform drone flights for topographic surveys, progress tracking, site photography, and project documentation.
  • Process drone data for photogrammetry, point clouds, contours, surface models, and quantity calculations.
  • Use drone and GPS data to measure stockpiles, verify elevations, track cut/fill, and earthwork progress.
  • Perform earthwork takeoffs, quantity calculations, and existing-versus-proposed grade analysis.
  • Assist estimating and project management with dirt quantities, utility takeoffs, and field measurements.
  • Support field-production software and construction technology used by project managers, foremen, and operators.
  • Identify and implement technology that improves field accuracy, productivity, and communication.
