About The Position

The Construction Technology Field Technician is a hands-on, site-based role responsible for deploying, configuring, and supporting construction technology hardware used by field teams. This position is focused on real-world field execution, including setup and operation of mobile devices, push-to-talk communication systems, drones, and other jobsite technology. The role works directly with construction crews, superintendents, and field engineers to ensure devices are functional, connected, and ready for daily use. This is not a software development or traditional IT support role; the position is focused on hands-on support of field devices, hardware, and connectivity in an active construction environment. The position requires strong troubleshooting skills, comfort working in an active construction environment, and the ability to quickly resolve device, hardware, and connectivity issues that impact field operations. Working under the direction of the Construction Automation Lead and supporting the Construction Automation Specialist, the Construction Technology Field Technician ensures field technology is properly deployed, maintained, and supported to enable efficient construction execution. The role supports multiple crews and functional teams across the project and requires responding to a high volume of day-to-day field technology needs.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Information Systems, Construction Management, Engineering and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Hands-on experience deploying, configuring, or supporting field devices such as tablets, mobile phones, radios, or similar equipment.
  • Basic understanding of construction workflows and field operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on resolving hardware and connectivity issues quickly in the field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with craft, supervision, and project teams.
  • FAA Part 107 certification or ability to obtain.
  • Experience operating drones in construction or industrial environments.
  • Experience with laser scanning, photogrammetry, or other reality capture technologies.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management tools and push-to-talk communication systems.
  • Experience supporting field data collection and reality capture workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting technology or equipment on large construction or industrial project sites is preferred.
  • Hands-on field experience with devices and equipment is strongly preferred over traditional IT or office-based experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain construction technology hardware and field devices across the project site, including tablets, phones, push-to-talk systems, drones, and related equipment.
  • Prepare, issue, and manage field devices for construction crews, ensuring proper setup, connectivity, and readiness for daily operations.
  • Install and support project applications on mobile devices to enable field use.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, device, and connectivity issues in real time to minimize disruption to construction activities.
  • Support the use of drones, robotic systems, and other reality capture technologies in the field.
  • Assist with drone operations and data collection activities in accordance with project requirements and regulatory guidelines.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure data collected from field devices and reality capture systems is transferred, processed, and available for use.
  • Work directly with craft professionals, superintendents, and field engineers to resolve day-to-day technology issues on site.
  • Ensure field devices are maintained, charged, updated, and available for use across shifts.
  • Track and manage device inventory, assignments, and condition across the project.
  • Support onboarding and training of field personnel on proper use of mobile devices, communication systems, and other jobsite technology.
  • Follow established Construction Automation standards, configurations, and deployment practices.
  • Maintain documentation of device setups, common issues, and resolutions to support consistent operations.
