About The Position

The Construction Technology Field Technician supports the day-to-day deployment, setup, and operation of construction automation hardware and field technology on an assigned construction project. This is a full-time, site-based role assigned to an active construction project. The position is focused on hands-on field support, including mobile devices, push-to-talk systems, drones, robotic equipment, and other site-based technology used by construction teams. Working under the direction of the Construction Automation Lead, the Construction Technology Field Technician ensures hardware is properly configured for use, deployed to field teams, and functioning reliably to support daily construction operations.

Requirements

  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) in Information Systems, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with mobile device deployment (tablets, phones, push-to-talk systems).
  • Basic understanding of construction workflows and field operations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on resolving issues quickly in the field.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work directly with craft, supervision, and project teams.
  • Experience working with construction teams on large-scale projects.
  • FAA Part 107 certification or ability to obtain.
  • Experience operating drones in construction or industrial environments.
  • Experience with laser scanning or other reality capture technologies.
  • Familiarity with mobile device management tools and push-to-talk systems in a field environment.
  • Experience supporting reality capture workflows (drone imagery, laser scanning, or photogrammetry)

Responsibilities

  • Support the deployment, setup, and day-to-day use of construction automation hardware across the jobsite.
  • Install and configure project applications on mobile devices including tablets, phones, and push-to-talk systems.
  • Distribute and manage mobile devices for field users, including setup, updates, and issue resolution.
  • Support field use of drones, robotic systems (e.g., robot dogs), and other reality capture technologies.
  • Perform basic flight operations or assist with drone data collection activities in accordance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with automation teams to ensure collected data is transferred, processed, and made available for project use.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, device, and connectivity issues encountered by field personnel and escalate as needed.
  • Work directly with construction crews, superintendents, and field engineers to resolve day-to-day technology issues.
  • Ensure field devices are maintained, charged, and ready for use.
  • Track device inventory, assignments, and condition across the project.
  • Support onboarding of field personnel on use of mobile devices, push-to-talk systems, and other assigned tools.
  • Follow approved Construction Automation standards, configurations, and procedures.
  • Maintain documentation of device setups, common issues, and resolutions.
