Construction Technology Facilitator
About The Position
The Ignition Lab is seeking a Construction Technology Facilitator to lead hands-on construction and trades-based learning experiences for middle and high school students. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building, mentoring, and working in a dynamic, project-based learning environment. The facilitator will guide students as they develop foundational construction skills, explore careers in the building trades, and work on real-world projects. This position emphasizes both skill-building and helping students understand how various construction systems and trades come together on a jobsite.

- Experience in construction, carpentry, or related building trades
- Experience leading projects, supervising teams, or coordinating build activities
- Interest in teaching, mentoring, or working with youth
- Ability to clearly explain concepts while working alongside students
- Familiarity with construction tools and jobsite safety practices
- Experience with residential construction, renovation, or project builds
- Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset
- Patience, adaptability, and a passion for hands-on learning
Responsibilities
- Lead and support students in hands-on construction and building projects
- Teach foundational skills including measuring, layout, carpentry, and safe tool use
- Reinforce jobsite safety and maintain a safe, organized shop environment
- Introduce students to a range of trades, including: Carpentry Drywall and painting Roofing Light electrical concepts HVAC basics Finish work
- Support implementation of construction safety curriculum (including NCCER CORE concepts)
- Collaborate with MINDDRIVE staff on interdisciplinary projects
- Assist with shop organization, tool maintenance, and project setup
- Support after-school programs, workshops, and student showcases
- Mentor students and help build confidence through hands-on learning experiences
