About The Position

Operation Breakthrough is seeking a Computer Tech Facilitator to lead an engaging, hands-on summer learning experience for high school students focused on computer hardware fundamentals. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys teaching practical tech skills and guiding students through real-world applications such as identifying computer components, and safely assembling and disassembling computers. The facilitator will create an interactive lab environment where students gain confidence working with technology at a foundational level.

Requirements

Experience working with high school-aged youth preferred
Basic knowledge of computer hardware and components
Comfort with assembling/disassembling desktop computers
Ability to explain technical concepts in a clear, hands-on, student-friendly way
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
Dependable, patient, and team-oriented

Nice To Haves

Experience building or repairing computers
Familiarity with IT fundamentals or technical training programs
Interest in STEM education or workforce development
Ability to create engaging, hands-on learning activities

Responsibilities

Lead hands-on instruction in computer hardware basics, including identifying internal components (CPU, RAM, motherboard, hard drives, power supply, etc.)
Guide students through safe assembly and disassembly of laptop and desktop computers and work towards WISE I and WISE II certifications
Teach proper handling, safety procedures, and care of equipment
Facilitate structured activities that build technical confidence and problem-solving skills
Supervise students in a computer lab setting, ensuring safety and engagement
Troubleshoot basic hardware issues and support student learning during activities
Maintain organization of tools, parts, and lab equipment
Collaborate with program staff to create a positive and supportive learning environment
