About The Position

This role is generally responsible for performing all aspects of construction management for moderately complex engineering assignments, working under minimal supervision. The primary responsibilities include extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements with a commitment to a zero accidents environment, ensuring contractor activities are planned and executed with safety first, and utilizing department standards. The role requires familiarity with project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment. Key duties involve technical contractual activities on projects of various sizes, promoting continued client relationships, participating in field construction efforts, design phase services, and all subcontracting. The position also entails participating in major technical, cost, scheduling, and performance decisions, recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly, providing on-site assistance during startup, and coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead. Consultation with design leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information for scheduled project completion is essential, as is advising the senior engineer concerning design or scope changes. The role also involves reviewing and checking vendor drawings, other discipline drawings for input, construction specifications, and fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to engineering drawings and specifications.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements, with a commitment to a zero accidents environment.
  • Familiarity with and utilizing department standards.
  • Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a task.
  • 10 or more years of relevant industrial construction coordination and administration experience.
  • Ability to lead a small team to deliver on commitments.
  • Knowledge and application of company business standards and good practices.
  • A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
  • Ability to manage client relationships in complex situations.
  • Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.
  • Ability to handle stress with poise.
  • Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.
  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations and requirements to team members.
  • Ability to set priorities.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to perform work outdoors in hot or cold climates.
  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs, and hard hat.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Construction Science, Building Science or related field from an accredited university is preferred.
