About The Position

The Construction Technician plays a critical role in safeguarding metal structures from corrosion through the installation, maintenance, and repair of cathodic protection systems. This position requires hands-on expertise in various construction trades to prepare sites, install protective components, and ensure system integrity in commercial and industrial environments. The Construction Tech will collaborate closely with project managers to execute projects that meet stringent safety and quality standards. Success in this role directly contributes to extending the lifespan of infrastructure such as pipelines, storage tanks, and other metal assets, thereby preventing costly damage and environmental hazards. The role demands a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining compliance with industry regulations and best practices.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with construction safety standards and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record for insurability.
  • Must be able to pass a DOT drug test and obtain a Medical Examiner Certificate.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel away from home 3-4 weeks at a time on an ongoing basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience specifically in cathodic protection system installation or maintenance.
  • Experience operating excavating equipment, such as trenchers, backhoes and skid steers.
  • Technical training or certification related to corrosion control or cathodic protection.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform site preparation to facilitate cathodic protection system installation.
  • Install and maintain cathodic protection equipment such as anodes, rectifiers, and monitoring devices according to engineering specifications.
  • Conduct routine inspections and manual labor tasks to ensure the ongoing effectiveness and safety of protection systems.
  • Collaborate with project teams to coordinate construction activities and ensure timely completion of projects.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements while maintaining a clean and organized worksite.
