About The Position

Our client, a professional services organization supporting government and defense programs, is seeking six Construction Surveillance Technicians for onsite, permanent positions in New England, North Dakota. Construction surveillance protects the integrity of secure facilities by monitoring construction activity for anything that could compromise them. This role suits someone observant, patient, and procedurally disciplined, with a construction background and the temperament to watch carefully and document precisely. With six openings, this is a substantial hiring effort and a good opportunity for candidates who want to enter or continue in the security-cleared construction field.

Requirements

  • An active security clearance is required, and candidates must be able to maintain that clearance throughout employment.
  • United States citizenship is required.
  • Prior construction industry experience is required, with practical familiarity with construction methods, materials, trades, sequencing, and the ability to read construction drawings and specifications well enough to recognize deviation from plan.
  • Strong observational skills, disciplined written documentation habits, and reliability across a full shift onsite.
  • Physical ability to move around active construction sites, work in varied weather conditions, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States for the duration of the engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction surveillance technician experience or completion of a recognized CST training course.
  • Background in the building trades, construction inspection, or site supervision.
  • Prior military or government security experience.
  • OSHA safety certification.
  • Familiarity with secure facility construction standards.
  • Experience working alongside government security personnel.
  • Trade certifications in areas such as electrical, mechanical, or general contracting.
  • Experience on secure or government construction projects.
  • Track record of consistent, legible documentation and the discipline to sustain attention across long shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous surveillance of construction activity within secure or sensitive facilities, observing work in progress, monitoring the conduct and movement of construction personnel, and ensuring that activity remains consistent with approved plans and security requirements.
  • Inspect materials, equipment, and deliveries entering the site, verify that items match documentation, and identify anything introduced that falls outside what has been approved, escalating findings through the established chain without delay.
  • Maintain detailed, contemporaneous written logs of observed activity, personnel present, materials received, and any anomalies, producing records that are accurate and complete enough to stand up to later review.
  • Enforce access control and escort procedures for uncleared personnel.
  • Coordinate with security management, construction supervisors, and government representatives.
  • Support inspections and technical countermeasures activity as directed.
  • Support pre-construction planning by reviewing schedules and drawings so that surveillance coverage is matched to the phases of work that carry the greatest risk.
  • Brief incoming shift personnel thoroughly so that observation continuity is preserved across shift changes and no activity goes unrecorded.
