This role involves managing and/or coordinating the supervision of the construction phase of public improvement contracts. The position provides lead construction management, potentially on multiple projects simultaneously, and is functionally responsible for the construction phase from within the department and across various functions. The role also involves assisting higher-level supervisors and managers, acting as a construction resource, and ensuring projects meet set goals. Specific duties include monitoring construction activities, reviewing design plans for constructability, participating in value engineering and design reviews, assisting with bid processes, conducting construction meetings, reviewing contractor schedules and progress, assessing construction methods, preparing cash flow projections, administering contracts, overseeing field activities, managing scope changes, monitoring testing and inspection personnel, acting as a liaison, preparing reports and correspondence, answering questions, measuring work for progress payments, reviewing payment requests, drafting plan adjustments, performing engineering calculations and field surveying, conducting field tests, requesting and negotiating work orders, investigating construction claims, overseeing contract close-out, coordinating with utilities and agencies, resolving public complaints, attending public meetings, reporting job progress, rectifying poor work standards, writing reports, and observing safe work practices. The position also involves verifying invoices and reviewing progress schedule updates.
