About The Position

This internship is designed for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, real-time problem-solving, and seeing projects come to fruition in the field. The role emphasizes integrity, leading by example, and delivering quality work safely. Interns will learn how construction projects are built from the ground up while working alongside experienced field leaders. ARCO Design/Build aims to build the next generation of industry leaders through this program, offering a chance to be part of a top design/build construction firm.

Requirements

Enrolled in an accredited Civil, Mechanical, Architectural, Construction Management, Building Science, or Construction Engineering undergraduate or graduate program (other related engineering majors will be considered)
Driver’s License
Excellent verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic

Nice To Haves

Previous Co-op or Intern experience in construction preferred, but not required
GPA 3.0 or higher preferred, but not required

Responsibilities

Gain exposure to how ARCO manages daily job site activities from site mobilization through project completion.
Participate in daily safety meetings, job site inspections, and learn how to promote and maintain a strong safety culture.
Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities and monitoring progress to help keep projects on schedule.
Observe and support quality inspections to ensure work is completed according to project plans, specifications, and ARCO standards.
Learn how to coordinate deliveries, equipment, material staging, and overall job site organization for efficient operations.
Work with Superintendents and subcontractors to understand sequencing, resolve field issues, and maintain productive workflows.
Assist with documenting daily job site activities, taking progress photos, and preparing daily reports.
Attend subcontractor coordination meetings, owner walkthroughs, and project planning discussions to see how field teams communicate and solve challenges.
Become familiar with construction drawings, specifications, and shop drawings while learning how they are applied in the field.
Conduct site walks with experienced Superintendents to monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and verify work is performed safely and correctly.
Participate in offsite trainings and biweekly learning sessions provided by the Learning and Development team.
Partner with Project Managers and field teams to understand how office and field operations work together to successfully deliver projects.
