About The Position

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. We’re seeking a Superintendent Commissioning - Mechanical to lead the commissioning of complex electrical systems for high-performance data centers. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient integration of electrical infrastructure, including UPS systems, switchgear, generators, and redundant power paths, while collaborating closely with mechanical teams to support liquid cooling and HVAC system integration. As a key leader in our commissioning team, you’ll oversee planning, execution, and validation of electrical systems from pre-functional testing through final handover. Your ability to manage cross-functional teams, resolve technical challenges, and uphold safety and quality standards will be critical to our mission of delivering sustainable, high-performance compute environments. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field with a minimum of 6 years of experience in mechanical construction management, including at least 2 years in data center or mission-critical facility projects.
  • Proven experience with liquid cooling systems (e.g., direct-to-chip, immersion cooling) in high-performance computing environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and liquid cooling infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with data center design standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE TC 9.9).
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera, MS Project, MS Office Suite).
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities to address complex technical challenges.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Must provide own steel-toed work boots; other PPE will be supplied.
  • Must be able to reliably commute to the work site daily or have plans to relocate before starting work.

Nice To Haves

  • PMP, LEED AP, or similar certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the commissioning of electrical systems including UPS, switchgear, PDUs, generators, and emergency power systems.
  • Collaborate with mechanical commissioning teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems with liquid cooling, HVAC, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and schedules aligned with project milestones and client requirements.
  • Supervise commissioning engineers, technicians, and subcontractors; assign tasks, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards.
  • Review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and specifications to validate design intent and identify potential issues.
  • Conduct functional performance testing, load bank testing, and system reliability assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE, and OSHA standards throughout commissioning activities.
  • Interface with project managers, design engineers, mechanical teams, and client stakeholders to coordinate commissioning efforts and resolve technical challenges.
  • Maintain detailed documentation including test reports, issue logs, and as-built records for project handover.
  • Support training of operations staff on electrical system functionality, maintenance, and emergency procedures.
