About The Position

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a motivated Construction Specialist to support Generation, Transmission, Renewables, and Canals projects by providing EHS oversight for contractors. This role involves working with site EHS teams to ensure adequate coverage in each region for all ongoing work. The specialist will review contractor HASPs, ensure adequate training, conduct on-site reviews, and implement corrective actions. A key responsibility is to stop work when unsafe conditions pose a significant risk of injury or fatality. The role also includes leading incident investigations, coordinating with emergency services, attending safety meetings, and preparing reports.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines covering safety, health, and environmental aspects.
  • Incident Investigation (RCA) trained.
  • Knowledge of Power Generation, transmission systems, renewables, and components.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects/tasks concurrently.
  • Knowledge of and experience with workplace hazards for construction, electric utility, transmission substations, and right of ways.
  • Ability to work closely with site/region leadership in a matrixed fashion.
  • First Aid - CPR certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Transmission/ROW EHS experience preferred.
  • Certifications preferred (CSP, ASP, CIH, CHST).

Responsibilities

  • Reviews HASP submitted by contractors to ensure job task hazards are identified and mitigation plans are documented.
  • Ensures Contractors have adequate training for tasks being performed.
  • Provides frequent on-site reviews of contractor’s work, providing written summary of gaps and issues with contractors' workforce, workplace, and workplan.
  • Ensures corrective actions are developed and implemented for identified gaps.
  • Stops work when conditions exist that could result in a potential significant injury or fatality.
  • Ensure daily job briefs are conducted.
  • Coaches Contractor employees and Subs to ensure they utilize proper PPE.
  • Leads and participates with Incident investigations.
  • Assists Project Delivery and Management staff with various safety and environmental questions and matters.
  • Coordinates with emergency service organizations.
  • Attends contractor safety committee meetings.
  • Supports leadership in the preparation of internal reports by gathering data as requested.
  • Executes other EHS tasks requested by management.
