Construction Scheduler | Mission Critical

Sargent Electric•Pittsburgh, PA

About The Position

Sargent Electric is hiring a Construction Scheduler for its Mission Critical business unit. This full-time role supports large-scale electrical construction projects by developing, maintaining, and managing detailed schedules from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover. The work location may be a project site or Mission Critical office, with local travel to project sites. The scheduler develops and maintains Primavera P6 schedules, coordinates field-based progress updates, integrates electrical construction scope with procurement and prefabrication activities, analyzes critical-path performance and risk, and reports schedule status to project stakeholders. The role also supports near-term planning, coordination with the general contractor and other trades, commissioning and turnover planning, safety practices, and consistent scheduling standards and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Business Administration, or a related discipline; candidates with at least two years of relevant construction scheduling experience may receive equivalent consideration in lieu of a degree.
  • At least two years of construction scheduling, project controls, or construction management experience supporting electrical, mission critical, data center, industrial, or other complex construction projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Ability to translate complex schedule information into clear, actionable information for project stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, computer, multitasking, and time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with construction management applications such as BuildingConnected, Vista, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, Procore, ProjectSite, Primavera P6, and related applications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical construction sequencing in a multi-trade environment.
  • Experience scheduling large-scale electrical construction, data center, mission critical, industrial, or similarly complex projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain logic-driven project schedules from preconstruction through commissioning and turnover.
  • Maintain Primavera P6 schedules, including baselines, updates, activity logic, durations, milestones, constraints, critical path, and physical percent complete.
  • Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, general foremen, and field teams to ensure schedule updates reflect actual conditions, installed progress, productivity, materials, access, and constraints.
  • Integrate electrical construction activities, including underground work, grounding, raceway, cable tray, equipment setting, busway, cable installation, terminations, controls, testing, energization, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Incorporate engineering releases, submittals, approvals, procurement, fabrication, long-lead deliveries, BIM coordination, clash detection, detailing, and material release activities into schedules.
  • Identify critical and near-critical activities, sequencing conflicts, constraints, and emerging risks, and support mitigation and recovery plans.
  • Prepare critical-path analysis, baseline-versus-actual reporting, milestone tracking, variance analysis, look-aheads, and recovery schedules.
  • Translate the overall schedule into executable near-term plans aligned with manpower, materials, equipment, access, predecessor work, and field priorities.
  • Reconcile the electrical construction schedule with the general contractor master schedule and other trade schedules.
  • Integrate testing, energization, startup support, commissioning, punch list, documentation, and phased turnover milestones into project plans.
  • Communicate schedule status, risks, priorities, and required actions, and help establish Mission Critical scheduling standards and best practices.
  • Lead by example in upholding safety standards and supporting best practices across field and office environments.
  • Engage in hands-on learning, training, mentorship, and available development opportunities.
  • Assume additional duties and responsibilities as delegated by Sargent Executive Management.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Collaborative, team-driven environment
  • Opportunity to directly impact project success and cost efficiency
