About The Position
Compliance Management International (CMI) is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Specialist to support an active pharmaceutical construction project in Elkton, VA. This is a long-term career opportunity for a safety professional with strong field leadership, hazard recognition, and construction safety experience.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience.
- Pharmaceutical construction safety experience required.
- Current OSHA 510 required.
- Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction training completed within the past five years.
- Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards.
- Experience overseeing high-risk construction activities.
- Strong communication, leadership, and hazard recognition skills.
- Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as project needs require.
Nice To Haves
- CHST, STS-C, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP certification.
- OSHA 500, NFPA 70E, or related safety certifications.
- Degree in Occupational Safety, EHS, or a related field.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily field safety oversight for contractors and subcontractors.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, hazard assessments, and observations.
- Identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Support Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), JSAs/JHAs, permits, and incident investigations.
- Conduct orientations, toolbox talks, and safety training.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 and client safety requirements.
- Monitor high-risk activities including electrical safety, fall protection, confined space, cranes/rigging, LOTO, and hot work.
- Maintain required safety reports and documentation.
- Coach field personnel and partner with project leadership to improve safety performance.
