About The Position

The Construction Safety Manager (CSM) is responsible for leading and enforcing all environmental health and safety (EHS) programs on-site. This individual will work closely with general contractors, subcontractors, and project leadership to ensure a proactive safety culture, mitigate risk, and maintain compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role requires deep experience in data center or mission-critical construction environments, with a strong understanding of high-risk activities including energized systems, heavy MEP installation, and commissioning phases.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of construction safety experience, with data center or mission-critical project experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety compliance standards.
  • Experience working on large-scale construction projects ($100M+ preferred).
  • Proven ability to manage safety across multiple subcontractors and trades.
  • Experience with high-risk construction environments (MEP-heavy projects).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 30 or OSHA 500 Certification.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or CHST certification.
  • Experience working with hyperscale or colocation data center developers.
  • Familiarity with commissioning processes and turnover requirements in mission-critical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and enforce site-wide safety programs in alignment with OSHA regulations and the team's standards.
  • Conduct daily site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across all trades.
  • Partner with General Contractors and subcontractors to ensure compliance with site-specific safety plans (SSSPs)
  • Facilitate and lead toolbox talks, safety orientations, and ongoing safety training programs.
  • Review and approve Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Method of Procedures (MOPs), and Lift Plans.
  • Monitor high-risk activities including:
  • Electrical installations and energized work.
  • Working at heights.
  • Crane operations and rigging.
  • Confined space entry.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Track and report safety metrics, including TRIR, near misses, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and enforce compliance across all contractors.
  • Support commissioning and turnover phases with a focus on energized system safety and LOTO procedures.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure readiness for internal and external safety audits.
  • Act as the on-site safety liaison between the team, contractors, and client stakeholders.
