About The Position

We are looking for a Construction Safety Manager to provide hands-on safety oversight across active commercial construction projects in a multi-trade construction environment, with direct ownership of site safety compliance, hazard recognition, inspections, and corrective actions. This is a field-focused role working directly with craft employees, foremen, project management, general contractor safety personnel, and subcontractors to maintain safe construction operations. The Safety Manager will spend much of the workday in active construction areas and must be comfortable enforcing safety requirements and addressing unsafe conditions immediately. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, compliant, and productive project execution across construction operations in the Nashville area.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or safety from an accredited university; OR Associate’s degree in engineering, construction, or safety from an accredited or industry-recognized technical school plus 2+ years of direct safety oversight; OR professional safety certification from an accredited or industry-recognized certifying organization plus 3+ years of direct safety oversight; OR 4+ years of relevant construction/industry experience plus 3+ years of direct safety oversight.
Strong working knowledge of construction safety requirements and hazard recognition.
Direct safety oversight experience in an active construction environment required.
Ability to communicate effectively with craft employees, foremen, project management, general contractor safety personnel, and subcontractors.
Strong documentation skills with the ability to accurately and timely record inspections, corrective actions, incidents, training, and other safety activities.
Must be comfortable spending much of the workday in active construction areas and enforcing safety requirements directly with field personnel.
Ability to climb ladders and stairs and access scaffolds, elevated work areas, and other areas necessary to inspect construction operations.
Must be comfortable working around active construction equipment and changing project conditions and addressing unsafe conditions immediately.

Responsibilities

Conduct hands-on safety inspections throughout active commercial construction areas to identify hazards and verify compliance with construction safety requirements.
Enforce safety requirements directly with craft employees, foremen, project management, general contractor safety personnel, and subcontractors.
Identify unsafe conditions and provide immediate direction for corrective action to protect workers and maintain safe project operations.
Document inspections, corrective actions, incidents, training, and other safety activities accurately and in a timely manner.
Work directly with project management and field leadership to address safety concerns and maintain consistent safety practices across active projects.
Recognize hazards associated with changing construction conditions, active equipment, elevated work areas, scaffolds, ladders, and other field operations.
Communicate safety expectations clearly to craft employees, foremen, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
Support safety training and reinforce safe work practices throughout active construction operations.
Maintain a consistent field presence to monitor construction activities and identify safety risks as project conditions change.
