About The Position

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Construction Representative/Inspector to join its team in Raleigh, North Carolina, with field work. The role involves observing construction on transportation, water, and/or facilities infrastructure projects to verify compliance with approved plans and specifications. The position communicates with clients, contractors, and colleagues and supports project and construction managers with construction documentation and project coordination.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 5 years of relevant construction-field experience serving as a construction representative or inspector.
• Valid and active driver's license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Associate degree in a related field.
• Knowledge of a project management information system, such as e-Builder, Buzzsaw, FNI Manager, or Site Manager.
• One or more of the following certifications: DOT technical certifications, ACI I, APWA certification, Level I NICET, or ENV SWPPP. Certifications may be considered in place of experience.

Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect ongoing construction work to ensure it complies with plans and specifications.
• Prepare daily construction reports.
• Support ongoing document control processes.
• Prepare for and assist with preconstruction meetings, progress checks, and conflict resolution.
• Provide information to the project manager or construction manager to help define the need for change orders, extra work, and/or supplemental agreements.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and other employees.
• Read plans and specifications to verify that construction complies with them.
