About The Position

The Construction Quality Engineer – Mechanical provides daily, field-based quality oversight of mechanical and civil construction execution, quality documentation, and turnover readiness for refinery projects. The role supports construction performed during turnaround (TAR) windows and during normal operations, within a shared Projects and TAR quality resource model. It verifies that work complies with Issued for Construction drawings, project specifications, approved work practices, and applicable codes, and that completed work is suitable for Mechanical Completion, System Handover, commissioning, and startup. The role covers piping systems, fixed and rotating equipment, tanks, structural steel, foundations, concrete, and packaged equipment with integrated mechanical components. It works closely with Construction, Contractor QC, Commissioning, Operations, and Discipline Engineers. It may also support one-off supplier inspections, such as Factory Acceptance Tests, final inspections, or equipment verification, under defined scope and direction. The position is located in the Indiana/Greater Chicago area, has a stated duration of three years with potential for extension, and is contingent upon contract award.
