Mechanical Engineer / Quality Control

Tessenderlo Group•Carlsbad, NM

About The Position

The Mechanical Engineer / Quality Control works with internal and external clients to design, specify, and support the fabrication, installation, and operation of mechanical equipment, while maintaining responsibility for the Project Services Quality Control Program. The role functions as a hands-on Mechanical Engineer II and has formal authority for quality control and ASME Code compliance for shop-fabricated and field-installed equipment. It supports projects from early design through fabrication, construction, and commissioning. The primary role is mechanical engineering: designing vessels and mechanical equipment; performing applicable ASME code calculations; reviewing drawings and project documentation; preparing specifications and scopes of work; supporting procurement; conducting vendor and field inspections; resolving technical nonconformances; and supporting operating plants and capital projects. The position coordinates with engineering, project management, fabrication, procurement, construction, operations, HS&E, inspectors, and quality control personnel to address technical requirements and support safe, compliant project execution. The secondary role is leadership of the Project Services Quality Control Program in accordance with ASME ‘S’, ‘U’, and ‘R’ stamp certification requirements. This includes maintaining quality and code documentation, coordinating inspections and testing, managing welder and welding-procedure qualifications, overseeing material receiving inspections, maintaining fabrication and nonconformance records, and supervising or backing up quality control inspectors. The role requires travel to project and fabrication sites and involves the physical activities and capabilities described in the posting.
