About The Position

Perform daily inspections and submit reports on construction projects at federal facilities for compliance with contract, design documents, plans and specifications in regard to workmanship, materials, installation and construction methods. Provide recommendations or necessary changes to government personnel regarding contract plans and specification relative to all phases of construction. Monitor contractor’s quality system and administer the three-phase inspection process. Provide surveillance at construction sites and assist owner in problem resolution. Deliver and review change orders; modification; RFIs; and submittals. Monitor contractor’s schedule. Review and comment on the accuracy of the construction contractor’s requests for payment. Verify accuracy of as-built drawings. Review and ensure QA and safety plans are adhered to by the contractor. Utilize Resident Management System (RMS).

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must pass a Federal Background Review and drug screen
  • High School Diploma/GED minimum
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience on large complex multimillion dollar federal construction projects, preferably USACE and/or Department of Defense
  • Experience with wide range of trades including, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, roofing, and general building construction
  • Experience with three-phase inspection process
  • Demonstrate proficiency and effective communications skills in the English language in both oral and written forms
  • Must have knowledge of building and construction crafts since detailed inspections must be made to ensure the required level of workmanship
  • Must be capable of reading contract drawings and specifications
  • Interaction with clients and contractors requires candidate to have a professional presentation along with excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable
  • Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
  • Ability to carry required instruments and equipment
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.

Nice To Haves

  • Construction related degree, preferred
  • Experience with USACE
  • Experience using RMS 3.0, preferred
  • Experience with OSHA and EM 385-1-1 USACE Safety Manual, preferred
