Construction Project Scheduling Specialist – Airports & Infrastructure

Connico•Cincinnati, OH
•$110,000 - $135,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Connico is hiring a Construction Project Scheduling Specialist to independently develop and analyze construction schedules for complex airport, energy, and infrastructure projects. The role translates design information, construction methodology, field conditions, phasing requirements, quantities, and project constraints into logical, defensible schedules that inform project decisions. The specialist serves as a technical resource to clients, project teams, and developing schedulers, applying practical construction judgment in addition to scheduling software expertise. The role may suit experienced construction schedulers or construction professionals—such as project engineers, superintendents, construction managers, civil engineers, inspectors, and preconstruction professionals—who have independently planned, scheduled, and sequenced complex work. The position requires significant scheduling experience and the ability to interpret plans, visualize construction, assess sequencing, and explain schedule findings clearly. Work can be hybrid from Connico’s Hebron, Kentucky (Cincinnati area) or Mt. Juliet, Tennessee (Nashville area) offices, with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday, or fully remote for the right candidate who resides full-time in the United States. Travel is 10–25% for site visits, client meetings, and conferences. The listed salary range is $110,000–$135,000 depending on experience, with bonus opportunities.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of progressive construction experience, including significant responsibility for construction scheduling, planning, sequencing, phasing, or schedule management on complex projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering, architecture, or a related field, or equivalent relevant construction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience independently creating or materially developing construction schedules, rather than solely maintaining, monitoring, or updating schedules prepared by others.
  • At least 2 years of meaningful onsite construction experience in complex building, infrastructure, heavy civil, transportation, utility, industrial, aviation, or comparable construction environments.
  • Professional experience with Primavera P6. Candidates without advanced P6 proficiency may be considered if they have substantial field-construction experience, significant scheduling and sequencing responsibility, experience independently planning complex work, and the ability to become proficient in technical scheduling tools quickly.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, constructability, trade coordination, logistics, procurement, sequencing, and phasing.
  • Demonstrated experience developing WBS structures, activities, durations, relationships, baselines, phasing plans, schedule assumptions, and related scheduling deliverables.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, civil, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications at multiple design stages and apply them to construction sequencing.
  • Experience communicating schedule findings, assumptions, risks, and recommendations directly to project teams and clients.
  • Experience developing schedules from preconstruction or early planning through construction and commissioning.
  • Experience with cost- or resource-loaded schedules.
  • Experience performing Time Impact Analysis, schedule recovery, delay analysis, or schedule risk analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability for 10–25% travel for site visits, client meetings, and conferences.
  • For remote work, reside full-time in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Aviation or airport scheduling experience.
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC).
  • Experience mentoring less-experienced schedulers or construction professionals.
  • OSHA construction safety training.
  • PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, CCM, PE, or comparable professional certification.
  • Experience in aviation; energy, including commercial nuclear power generation, green and renewable power generation, power distribution, or high-voltage power transmission; heavy civil and infrastructure; data centers and data infrastructure; government and military scheduling; utilities; transportation; roadway; bridge; water/wastewater construction; or complex work within active or operational facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Independently develop detailed construction schedules using project scope, design documents, construction methodology, site conditions, phasing, procurement, production information, and client milestones.
  • Develop work breakdown structures, activities, durations, relationships, sequencing logic, milestones, constraints, and schedule assumptions.
  • Build schedules spanning planning, design, preconstruction, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
  • Apply construction knowledge to assess sequencing, access, logistics, production, trade interfaces, procurement constraints, material availability, and constructability.
  • Develop and evaluate alternative phasing and sequencing strategies as project requirements or field conditions change.
  • Incorporate quantities, production rates, cost, resource, procurement, and other project information into schedules.
  • Develop schedules at levels of detail suited to the project phase, available information, and client needs.
  • Analyze critical path, float, schedule variances, phasing conflicts, constraints, and potential delays.
  • Identify missing scope, logic issues, unrealistic assumptions, sequencing conflicts, and other project delivery risks.
  • Develop mitigation strategies and schedule recovery recommendations based on construction knowledge and schedule analysis.
  • Perform or support Time Impact Analysis, delay analysis, schedule risk analysis, and change-impact evaluation.
  • Review contractor- and stakeholder-prepared schedules for logic, completeness, constructability, sequencing, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Integrate cost estimating, phasing, constructability, quantities, and resource information into scheduling recommendations.
  • Apply professional judgment when project information is incomplete or developing.
  • Work with owners, designers, contractors, field personnel, and other stakeholders to develop realistic schedules.
  • Lead or participate in planning, phasing, sequencing, schedule development, review, and reconciliation meetings.
  • Explain schedule assumptions, risks, impacts, alternatives, and recommendations to clients and project teams.
  • Participate in site visits to validate assumptions, understand field conditions, and confirm construction progress.
  • Train and support Analyst-level schedulers by reviewing schedule logic, construction sequencing, and technical approaches.
  • Contribute to internal quality reviews, scheduling tools, templates, and best practices.
