About The Position

TEKsystems is supporting one of its enterprise clients with a confidential need for a contract Construction Project Manager to lead the full lifecycle delivery of mission critical data center construction projects. The role requires strong technical depth in electrical and mechanical systems, adherence to uptime and safety standards, and the ability to coordinate large, complex builds with multiple stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 8+ Years Project Management Experience
  • E2E project management experience; from planning to handover. Inclusive of tendering and reviewing trade packages
  • Experience with construction projects; 10M+ in size
  • Proficiency in MS Project and budget management.
  • Knowledge of working in critical environments, commissioning, structured cabling, networking rooms, and IT infrastructure. Including Critical facility standards and understanding how to maintain operations during construction
  • Strong Understanding of electrical systems (generators, switchgear, ATS, MCB, etc) and mechanical systems (CRAC, IRC, AHU, chillers, etc).
  • Team Development; ability to develop rapport with internal and external teams, and effectively manage multiple trades (20-30 per site).
  • Strong communication skills to command attention, instill confidence, and assign accountability among subcontractors.
  • Ability to travel to GTA sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • PMP certification
  • Experience with large construction projects (10M+ in size)
  • Proven estimating skills, including breaking down scope, tendering trade packages, and reviewing bids.
  • A degree in construction management, architecture, or engineering is an asset.
  • Previous Project Management experience within Data Center build construction projects
  • Previous experience working for Canadian carriers

Responsibilities

  • Lead project planning and pre construction, reviewing drawings and specifications, coordinating with design engineers, issuing RFIs, developing scopes of work, schedules, budgets, and securing required permits.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor award, including estimating, tendering, contract negotiation, selection, and oversight of long lead equipment and materials.
  • Oversee on site construction execution, coordinating civil, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and power system activities, directing installation of critical infrastructure, and leading technical meetings and reporting.
  • Control project financials and contracts, tracking costs and cash flow, forecasting spend, issuing POs, approving invoices, and resolving contractual or risk related issues.
  • Ensure quality, safety, and compliance, conducting inspections, enforcing safety protocols, managing change orders, coordinating with AHJs, and ensuring adherence to codes and specifications.
  • Drive commissioning and closeout, overseeing equipment startup, IST and load testing, managing punch lists, delivering as builts and O&M documentation, and completing project turnover.
