About The Position

The Construction Project Manager is responsible for managing industrial and environmental construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with typical project values ranging from $100K to $5M. This position oversees planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, subcontractor coordination, contract administration, client communication, risk management, safety coordination, and overall project execution. This position supports projects such as industrial design-build, food processing facility upgrades, wastewater treatment systems, process piping, equipment installation, demolition, concrete and excavation, ventilation systems, and other industrial construction services. The Construction Project Manager works closely with clients, client managers, field teams, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and internal leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of industrial, environmental, and heavy civil construction project management.
  • Proven ability to manage industrial construction projects such as manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, food processing facilities, wastewater systems, process piping, equipment installation, or similar heavy industrial work.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial construction methods, materials, sequencing, equipment, subcontractor coordination, and project execution.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, budgets, resources, subcontractors, vendors, and client expectations.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and manage complex construction plans, blueprints, drawings, specifications, P&IDs, schematics, contracts, scopes of work, technical documents, and regulatory or permit requirements.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, change management, procurement, contract administration, and financial reporting.
  • Ability to identify project risks, troubleshoot issues, control budget variances, and implement practical solutions in fast-paced field environments.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, organization, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client, subcontractor, vendor, and internal team relationships.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, building codes, site-specific safety planning, environmental hazards, industrial facility safety expectations, construction safety practices, and quality control requirements.
  • Ability to manage subcontractors and vendors to ensure scope, schedule, quality, safety, and budget expectations are met.
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Microsoft Project, Procore, Primavera P6, Autodesk, Bluebeam, or similar platforms.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs and ability to use estimating, scheduling, cost tracking, ERP, or project management systems.
  • Ability to remain flexible, professional, and solutions-focused while managing changing schedules, field conditions, project risks, and client needs.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of construction experience required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Project Manager in industrial construction, environmental construction, heavy civil construction, or related construction project management required.
  • Proven experience managing industrial construction projects such as manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution centers, food processing facilities, wastewater systems, process piping, equipment installation, or similar heavy industrial work required.
  • Experience managing project schedules, budgets, resource allocation, subcontractors, vendors, procurement, change orders, contract administration, and client communication required.
  • Experience tracking project costs, controlling budget variances, preparing cost projections, and implementing corrective measures required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting complex blueprints, construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, contracts, and technical documents required.
  • Knowledge of industrial construction methods, materials, sequencing, safety requirements, building codes, quality control, and project documentation required.
  • Experience managing RFIs, submittents, change orders, progress meetings, site inspections, project correspondence, and closeout documentation required.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate project risks throughout the project lifecycle required.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and support field-based project execution required.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and internal stakeholders required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Seven (7) or more years of project management experience in industrial construction, environmental construction, heavy civil construction, wastewater, food processing, manufacturing, warehouse, distribution, or related markets preferred.
  • Experience managing projects with values ranging from $100K to $5M preferred.
  • Experience managing design-build, industrial general contracting, food processing facility construction, wastewater treatment system construction, process piping, equipment installation, ventilation systems, demolition, concrete, excavation, or facility upgrade projects preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification preferred; willingness to obtain may be considered.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk, Bluebeam, estimating software, ERP systems, or similar construction management platforms preferred.
  • Experience managing subcontractor bid packages, procurement, negotiations, contract administration, submittents, RFIs, change orders, cost projections, and project closeout preferred.
  • Experience working in active industrial facilities, food processing plants, wastewater treatment facilities, manufacturing environments, warehouses, distribution centers, or other highly regulated work sites preferred.
  • Experience with process piping, stainless steel fabrication, structural platforms, conveyors, tanks, vessels, pumps, blowers, ventilation systems, dust collection systems, or industrial equipment installation preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all phases of industrial and environmental construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout.
  • Manage projects with values typically ranging from $100K to $5M.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules, project budgets, work breakdown structures, resource allocation plans, procurement plans, and project milestones.
  • Coordinate project scopes involving industrial construction, design-build, demolition, concrete and excavation, hydro excavation, process piping, wastewater systems, food processing upgrades, equipment installation, ventilation systems, and related services.
  • Assist in the bidding process, including scope development, subcontractor bid solicitation, bid review, subcontractor selection, negotiation, and contract administration.
  • Review plans, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, estimates, contracts, purchase orders, submittals, RFIs, change orders, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate internal crews, superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, engineers, clients, and other project stakeholders.
  • Lead project kickoff meetings, preconstruction meetings, progress meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, and closeout meetings.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to monitor safety, quality, progress, schedule compliance, field conditions, subcontractor performance, and overall project execution.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor performance to ensure compliance with scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, and contractual requirements.
  • Track project costs, monitor budget variances, prepare cost projections, and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks or delays, and implement proactive solutions to protect schedule, budget, safety, quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, financial reports, cost projections, change order logs, procurement trackers, resource plans, and project status updates.
  • Support estimating, budgeting, bid packaging, material review, equipment review, and procurement management during preconstruction.
  • Review and approve project-related invoices, purchase orders, time records, delivery tickets, subcontractor billings, and cost documentation.
  • Coordinate with field leadership to ensure crews have the information, materials, equipment, subcontractor support, and direction needed to complete work efficiently.
  • Ensure project work is completed in accordance with applicable safety regulations, OSHA standards, building codes, site-specific safety plans, client policies, environmental requirements, permits, quality control requirements, and project specifications.
  • Support safety management and oversight in coordination with field leadership and safety personnel.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding project status, schedule impacts, changes in scope, budget updates, risks, and issue resolution.
  • Manage project documentation, including RFIs, submittents, change orders, contracts, meeting minutes, project correspondence, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
  • Support project closeout, including final documentation, warranty coordination, client acceptance, lessons learned, and final financial review.
  • Represent Environmental Works professionally with clients, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, regulatory representatives, and internal team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
