Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing industrial and commercial construction projects from inception to completion. This role provides leadership to a team of Civil Technologists while ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget. The Construction Project Manager will oversee contract reviews, technical drawing reviews, project planning, material procurement, staffing coordination, scheduling, and client relations. This position combines office-based project management responsibilities with regular site visits throughout North America. This role has been created to cover a current vacancy within the team.

Requirements

  • Completion of a College Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project coordination or project management, including at least 4 years in an ICI (Industrial, Commercial, and Institutional) construction management or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project management principles, and construction materials.
  • Strong knowledge of the Construction Act, CCDC contracts, and CCA documentation.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Previous construction site experience and exposure to field operations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must hold a valid Ontario Driver's License and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must be able to travel within Canada and the United States up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be able to comply with criminal background checks, drug and alcohol testing requirements, as applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • A university degree is considered an asset.
  • PMP certification is considered an asset.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, or similar design software is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working within ISO 9001 environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Manage construction projects through all phases, including tender review, contract administration, project planning, procurement, installation coordination, execution, and closeout documentation.
  • Review technical specifications, drawings, contracts, and project requirements to identify discrepancies, omissions, risks, and required submissions.
  • Lead and supervise a team of Civil Technologists, providing coaching, mentorship, technical guidance, and performance support.
  • Coordinate project schedules, staffing requirements, subcontractors, material deliveries, and installation activities.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders throughout project execution.
  • Resolve technical, operational, and contractual issues that arise during and after project completion.
  • Review project designs, reports, and technical documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
  • Ensure final designs, as-built drawings, operation manuals, and quality assurance documentation are complete prior to project turnover.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, company procedures, and applicable regulatory codes.
  • Collaborate with internal departments including Sales, Engineering, Operations, and Procurement to support successful project delivery.
  • Review technical calculations and project estimates prior to tender submissions and quotations.
  • Support the development and improvement of project management processes, technical procedures, and operational standards.
  • Contribute to new product development initiatives, product testing, and implementation of innovative solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of product applications, product availability, pricing structures, and technical capabilities.
  • Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential and secure.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and corporate partners.
