About The Position

Higley Construction, a 100% employee-owned company with a century of experience, is seeking a Construction Project Manager (PM) to manage one or more projects. The PM is responsible for ensuring projects meet budget, schedule, safety, and profitability goals, acting as the owner's primary contact for business and contractual matters. This role involves close coordination with the Project Superintendent and reporting to the Project Executive. The PM will split time between the office and field, visiting projects multiple times weekly, with the possibility of being full-time on-site if required. The position demands exceptional customer service to both internal and external clients. The company acknowledges that no single candidate may possess all desired qualifications, which represent the company's ideal vision for this role.

Requirements

  • Holds at least a four-year engineering, construction management or construction-related degree, or relevant experience.
  • Has at least five (5) years of construction experience with increasing responsibility on construction projects.
  • Competency in business writing and public presentation skills, and motivation to become a compelling presenter, motivator, and team leader.
  • Excellence in personal work habits and the ability to lead by example.
  • Understanding of the dedication necessary to be a project leader.
  • Competent or willing to learn multiple construction software’s.
  • Understand construction accounting and project cost forecasting.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to “Manage Up”.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering certifications, such as a PE.
  • Industry certifications resulting from memberships in organizations like OSHA, USGBC, CMAA, or ASHE.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate delivery of work results that consistently exceed corporate goals for profitability, schedule, quality, safety, and client relationship management.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the values and ethics that differentiate Higley Construction.
  • Achieve high ratings for client satisfaction, safety performance, and project execution on led projects.
  • Build and maintain a professional network of industry and community relationships to identify future project opportunities and actively secure new business.
  • Successfully negotiate contract agreements with Subcontractors and material suppliers, and administer these agreements throughout the project.
  • Identify risks and requirements within owner contracts.
  • Manage identified risks and utilize resources to mitigate them.
  • Possess a general understanding of quality control requirements and common pitfalls in various types of work.
  • Resolve disputes and problems in a positive manner by understanding different perspectives.
  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and creative thinking abilities, fostering a creative culture among team members and consultants.
  • Establish project schedules, including critical milestone dates, and manage the schedule, holding all stakeholders accountable for on-time performance.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of project engineering requirements and lead project engineers.
  • Handle difficult project situations effectively.
  • Take full responsibility for all project cost management, including change management and Profit and Loss reporting.
  • Lead all Owner, Architect, Contractor (OAC) and Subcontractor meetings.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
