The Capital Projects Management Department at Boston College is responsible for the engineering, planning, documentation, and construction management of the college's Capital Improvement Plan. This plan is divided into two strategic components: the Annual Capital Plan and the Major Construction Plan, encompassing up to 150 ongoing projects annually. The Construction Project Manager (CPM) reports to the Associate Director, Annual Capital Projects, and will manage capital construction projects supporting the Annual Capital Plan through all phases, from planning and design to construction. This role involves implementing best practices for construction project delivery, including scope, schedule, estimating, budget development, risk management, procurement strategies, contract administration, and project cost control. The CPM will collaborate with consultants and Boston College stakeholders, such as Facilities Management, to develop design and construction documents. Maintaining quality communication with BC Departments and project stakeholders is crucial, utilizing management software PMWeb for reporting on project schedule, progress, and budget control. The position demands extensive knowledge of construction and project management practices, a broad understanding of building systems (envelope, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm), finishes, and site utilities. Strict adherence to University budgets and schedules is necessary due to the annual budget process and the academic calendar. The ability to organize and manage teams, including internal staff, external contractors, and design consultants, is essential, along with proven experience managing multiple projects with aggressive schedules.
