About The Position

The Construction Project Manager Supervisor will work in a hybrid environment appropriate to ongoing activities and supervisor duties, including in the field, office, or remote. A telework agreement will be developed upon start to outline specifics. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in a unique, fast-paced environment that provides unique challenges and problems to solve on a day-to-day basis. You will be in the Facilities Management department but will be providing services to other departments in the County. As a key member of our supervisory team, you will oversee a team of design and construction project managers working on all phases of construction project management from concept through execution. Construction project managers reporting to this position work on a wide array of complex projects in the office and field, and collaboration is key. You will supervise the team and work in partnership with other departments to develop and implement capital projects, solve emergencies, and strategize short and long-term solutions related to design and construction. You will oversee workflow and processes, standards, policies, and procedures for the capital team. The department strives to make sure employees feel supported and experience job satisfaction by providing training and reviews. Leaders are also encouraged to pursue advanced certification under the Pierce County Leadership program and are offered other opportunities for professional growth and training.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in architecture, construction management, civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering, project management, landscape architecture, business or public administration or closely related field from an accredited college or university
  • Five years of increasingly responsible experience directly related to the position, to include Two years of supervisory or lead experience.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Commercial vertical construction project management experience.
  • Experience as Owner’s representative on design, bid, build (DBB), design-build (DB), or Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
  • Proficient to expert-level experience in Excel, CAD, and/or Revit, Bluebeam, and/or Acrobat Professional, and other technical resources, or equivalent program.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of strategic direction and guidance to construction project managers work unit.
  • Assist with the development of performance standards and measures for unit, individuals, and project work team.
  • Assist in the development and preparation of the biennial capital improvement program requirements and budgets, to include project development, estimating costs, estimating budget requirements and initiating approval of projects.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of a designated unit; determine work procedures, approve work schedules, and determine methods for expediting workflow; assign, review and approve the work of subordinate staff.
  • Act as project manager for programs with multiple dimensions, projects, and complexity.
  • Provide technical expertise and project management of highly visible, technically complex and politically sensitive projects.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, departments, and staff, as well as other agencies and the public; facilitate resolution of competing interests to keep the capital program on time and within budget.
