About The Position

AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Project Manager – Highways to join our Transportation team in Mississauga, ON. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the delivery of highway and transportation infrastructure construction projects, overseeing all aspects of project execution from pre-construction planning through construction and project closeout. This position requires strong project management, contract administration, client management, and leadership skills while ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to AECOM's quality standards. This is a newly created role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline plus 10 years of relevant experience managing highway, roadway, bridge, or other transportation infrastructure construction projects, or Technical Diploma + 12 years of equivalent experience or High school plus 14 years of relevant experience managing highway, roadway, bridge, or other transportation infrastructure construction projects.
  • 2 years of leadership
  • OACETT C.Tech and/or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Demonstrated experience managing construction contracts and multidisciplinary transportation infrastructure projects.

Nice To Haves

  • 15+ years experience is ideal
  • Experience delivering major municipal, provincial, or transportation infrastructure construction projects in a consulting or owner's representative environment.
  • Experience administering construction contracts for MTO, municipal, or other public-sector transportation projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction management, contract administration, scheduling, cost control, quality management, and risk management principles.
  • Experience with Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build, and P3 project delivery models.
  • Working knowledge of MTO standards, TAC guidelines, OPSS, OPSD, and applicable transportation design and construction standards.
  • Demonstrated success managing multidisciplinary project teams and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong financial management experience, including project forecasting, budgeting, invoicing, and profitability management.
  • Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall project management and leadership for highway and transportation infrastructure construction projects.
  • Manage projects through all phases, including pre-construction planning, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, construction, commissioning, turnover, and contract closeout.
  • Establish project-specific objectives, execution strategies, and management plans.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between AECOM, clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams and provide direction, guidance, and mentorship to project staff, construction managers, inspectors, and technical professionals.
  • Ensure construction activities are delivered in accordance with approved design documents, contract requirements, project schedules, budgets, quality standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Oversee construction contract administration, including change management, claims review, progress monitoring, payment certifications, risk management, and dispute resolution.
  • Monitor project scope, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and overall project performance while identifying and mitigating project risks.
  • Coordinate with design teams to resolve technical issues and support constructability reviews throughout project delivery.
  • Prepare and review project schedules, cost forecasts, progress reports, and other project documentation.
  • Support business development activities, including client relationship management, proposal preparation, and pursuit planning.
  • Manage project financial performance, including budgets, forecasting, invoicing, profitability, and resource planning.
  • Ensure compliance with AECOM quality management procedures, health and safety requirements, and client standards.
  • Foster strong client relationships and identify opportunities for repeat business and project growth.
