About The Position

The Montana Department of Corrections (DOC) is seeking a highly organized Construction Project Management Specialist to lead and coordinate a large, active portfolio of construction and infrastructure projects that directly support safe, secure, and effective operations. This position is responsible for tracking and monitoring numerous projects simultaneously, maintaining schedules and risk controls, and ensuring issues are identified early and elevated for resolution. The specialist will regularly brief department leadership on project status, risks, and milestones; prepare concise written and verbal updates; and help drive timely decisions that keep projects on track and aligned with DOC operational needs. A key function of this position is serving as the primary DOC liaison and project owner between the department, the Architecture and Engineering Division, contractors, internal facility staff, and other external partners. The specialist will coordinate meetings; document and follow up on action items; track progress on projects such as new housing units, program buildings, a new women’s prison, facility remodels, roofing projects, and other capital improvements; and ensure DOC subject matter experts’ requirements are clearly communicated and addressed. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in a construction environment, managing details for a vast portfolio of concurrent projects, and proactively coordinating information flow so that DOC leadership stays informed and projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Candidates with experience managing complex infrastructure projects and navigating regulatory or operational challenges are strongly encouraged to apply.
