This role ensures capital projects—such as replacement, reinforcement, relocation, and growth initiatives—are developed, planned, coordinated, forecasted, and built on time and efficiently. You will provide detailed planning, construction expertise, and leadership throughout all project phases, aligning with department goals and project objectives. You will apply the highest level of construction management expertise while developing and communicating methods for managing pipeline industry risks associated with construction activities. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (business or engineering degree is preferred) or related construction or operational training and experience, combined with 4 years of work-related construction experience. For candidates who do not possess a university degree, an additional 3-years of related experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills, with excellent verbal and written communication and effective negotiating abilities.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate individual capital project financials and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously to meet defined turnaround times.
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings, specifications, and turning over complete and accurate project documentation, along with proven conflict resolution, planning, organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
  • A valid "G" class Ontario driver's license and maintenance of a responsible driving record is required which will be validated before hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management experience with strong analytical, technical, and conflict resolution skills, is preferred while having certifications such as Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), or equivalent are considered an additional asset.
  • Gas distribution technical experience coupled with an understanding of operating matters including measurement and regulation is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical construction and project management support for pipeline construction projects, including the planning, design, procurement of materials, constructing, and commissioning of pipeline facilities.
  • Manage the completion of projects using principles of building and project coordination. Projects are typically cross-functional and often require forming and leading cross-departmental teams.
  • Practice effective cost management, including scope identification, cost estimating, analysis of scope changes, invoice resolution, and variance reporting.
  • Support all parties involved in performing construction-related activities to ensure scope of work is executed safely and in accordance with applicable specifications and work permits.
  • As a subject matter advisor, develop and communicate mitigation strategies related to construction execution risks.
  • Provide technical consultation to regional departments and project teams on matters of policy, procedure, or practice, requiring detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures, materials, equipment, codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
