About The Position

A paid co-op experience for students studying Construction Management, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Technologies & Technicians, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. This program offers practical experience in the construction industry by working on real projects, spending time in the field, and collaborating with experienced professionals. Co-ops will have an assigned mentor and will be involved in preconstruction efforts and construction engineering tasks on educational, healthcare, industrial, and water resource projects. Returning co-ops can gain exposure to different construction opportunities. The role emphasizes applying classroom learning to real work, understanding industry practices like estimating and project management, and developing practical skills in quantity take-offs, plans and specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, materials, field quantities, and labor. Requirements

  • Currently studying Construction Management, Civil/Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering Technologies & Technicians, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Seeking a co-op experience in Spring 2027.
  • Ability to apply classroom learning to real construction projects.
  • Willingness to develop experience with quantity take-offs, plans and specifications, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, change orders, materials, field quantities, labor, and other aspects of construction.
  • Commitment to service and improving communities.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Project Managers and Project Engineers with day-to-day responsibilities to ensure construction projects run smoothly, on schedule, and on budget.
  • Performing project start-up activities, managing submittals, RFIs, buy-out, and close-out activities.
  • Conducting project estimating tasks, including quantity take-offs, pricing items of work, soliciting price and quotations, bid analysis, good faith effort documentation, and compilation of job cost data.
