About The Position

A Construction Mechanical Inspector I conducts on-site inspections of mechanical installations in new construction or renovation projects for contract and specification compliance. Work involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek, but may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday hours on a 24-hour on-call basis. Work is performed at construction sites where incumbents may encounter dust, mud, noise, heights, and inclement weather conditions. Work requires minimal physical exertion.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
Three years of experience in mechanical installation, maintenance or inspection.
Master plumber license issued by the State Board of Plumbing, the Baltimore County Plumbing Board, or the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission.
Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or an equivalent driver's license and eligible to obtain a Baltimore City driver’s permit.
Knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques of construction and mechanical installation work.
Knowledge of mechanical codes and standards.
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures including OSHA rules and regulations.
Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
Mathematic ability.
Ability to communicate and deal effectively with others.
Ability to maintain records and reports.
