About The Position

Kent is looking for a Construction Mechanical Coordinator to be based in Bay City, Texas. You will serve as a key interface between engineering, construction contractors, and project management to ensure safe, high-quality, and efficient execution of all mechanical construction activities.

Requirements

  • 10 years' experience in mechanical construction coordination, inspection, or field engineering on industrial, energy, or downstream projects.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical construction processes including: Installation of static and rotating equipment, Mechanical and process piping systems, HVAC and packaged equipment, Equipment alignment, torquing, QA/QC verification
  • Familiarity with Control of Work, PTW, and safe-work coordination in field environments.
  • Experience supporting mechanical system walkdowns, turnover documentation, and subsystem completion.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, isometrics, and vendor documentation.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills to ensure effective coordination with contractors, engineering teams, and project leadership.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining professionalism and prioritizing safety.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Reports to the Construction Manager for planning, coordination, and execution oversight.
  • Supports daily mechanical, civil and structural construction activities, ensuring work is performed in alignment with project specifications, drawings, and quality standards.
  • Coordinates with contractors, vendors, and engineering to resolve mechanical technical queries and field-level issues.
  • Conducts mechanical, civil and structural inspections for installation quality, construction readiness, and compliance with approved procedures.
  • Oversees installation and construction activities associated with piping, rotating equipment, static equipment, HVAC, and mechanical packages.
  • Verifies completion of construction documentation, redlines, and as-built updates.
  • Supports field execution of mechanical system hydrotesting, flushing, torquing, and equipment alignment.
  • Monitors contractor performance and mechanical progress, escalating risks or delays to the Construction Manager.
  • Reviews construction check sheets, ITRs, and verification records to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Demonstrates strong HSSE leadership at all times and actively reinforces a “safe work always” culture.
  • Participates in required HSE, permit-to-work, and procedural training.
  • Submits daily construction updates, progress reporting, and documentation of completed work.
  • Ensures all team members, contractors, and vendors comply with project safety expectations and mechanical installation requirements.
  • Supports mechanical punch list generation, walkdowns, and closure in accordance with project standards.
  • Coordinates isolations, lockout/tagout, and safe-work boundaries under direction of the Construction Lead.
  • Understands requirements for equipment installation, vessel fit-out, piping fabrication, supports installation, rotating equipment alignment, and QA/QC needs.
  • Supports engineering and construction teams in preparing system turnover packages and mechanical documentation for subsystem completion.
  • Participates in mechanical system walkdowns, punch categorization, and readiness verification for pre-commissioning.
  • Ensures all mechanical deliverables, documentation, and installation practices meet project, client, and industry standards.
  • Completes assigned work scope within project schedule expectations and ensures mechanical design intent is fully implemented during construction.
  • In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization.
