About The Position

The Construction Materials Testing Technician provides hands-on materials testing for commercial construction projects, making day trips throughout the Greater Elmira, New York area to help ensure on-site quality and compliance. The role tests materials such as soil and concrete, interprets construction documents, and communicates clear, reliable findings to project teams.

Requirements

High school diploma.
Ability and willingness to obtain industry certifications through the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Code Council (ICC); CME provides full support.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.

Nice To Haves

Associate or bachelor's degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, geology, or a related field.
Familiarity with construction materials, procedures, and documentation.

Responsibilities

Perform quality assurance testing on construction materials, including soil and concrete, at commercial job sites.
Interpret construction drawings and specifications and ensure test results align with project requirements.
Complete testing assignments precisely and in accordance with applicable standards and industry best practices.
Document and report findings clearly and concisely.
Communicate with supervisors and provide timely updates on project progress and test outcomes.
Pursue professional development, including preparation for American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Code Council (ICC) certifications.
