Construction Materials Testing Technician
About The Position
CME Associates, Inc. is an engineering technology firm providing construction materials evaluation and technical support services. The Construction Materials Testing Technician provides hands-on materials testing for commercial construction projects, completing day trips throughout the Greater Syracuse, New York area to support on-site quality and compliance. The role involves testing soils and concrete, interpreting construction documents, documenting findings, and communicating progress and results to supervisors. The technician is expected to pursue professional development and prepare for industry certifications; CME provides support for this process.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Ability and willingness to obtain industry certifications through the American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Code Council (ICC).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice To Haves
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, engineering technology, geology, or a related field.
- Familiarity with construction materials, procedures, and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality assurance testing on construction materials, including soils and concrete, at commercial job sites.
- Interpret construction drawings and specifications and ensure test results align with project requirements.
- Complete testing assignments accurately in accordance with applicable standards and industry best practices.
- Document and report findings clearly and concisely, providing reliable data to project teams.
- Communicate with supervisors and provide timely updates on project progress and test outcomes.
- Pursue professional development, including preparation for American Concrete Institute (ACI) and International Code Council (ICC) certifications.
