Entry Level Construction Materials Testing Technician
About The Position
Tolunay Wong Engineers is hiring entry-level Construction Materials Testing Technicians for its Austin/Cedar Creek, Texas location. The role offers on-the-job training and certification from the first day; no prior construction materials testing experience is required. Technicians learn to test and inspect soils, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials in the field and laboratory, initially shadowing experienced technicians before progressing to independent work. They also learn to prepare clear, accurate field reports and communicate daily with dispatch and site contacts. The position is suited to recent graduates in construction management, civil engineering, geology, or similar fields, military veterans interested in a hands-on technical career, and mechanically inclined applicants seeking practical skills. Employees are expected to arrive on time, safely operate a company or personal vehicle, represent the company professionally at client sites, and perform duties safely with regard for others. Physical duties include lifting 10 to 60 pounds and transporting materials weighing up to 200 pounds using a wheelbarrow, cart, or dolly.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation; a truck is preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Willingness to work outdoors, early mornings, irregular hours, and weekends as job demands require.
- Ability to walk and stand on uneven or irregular surfaces for periods of time.
- Ability to lift 10 to 60 pounds and transport materials weighing up to 200 pounds using a wheelbarrow, cart, or dolly.
- Ability to safely operate a company or personal vehicle.
- Ability to pass a drug test, background check, and fit-for-duty test.

Responsibilities
- Assist with sampling or testing soils, concrete, asphalt, and other materials as directed.
- Support field and laboratory personnel as needed to complete tasks.
- Transport equipment, specimens, or documents to field personnel, laboratories, clients, or other offices, and provide physical assistance with equipment setup.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Assist other technicians or professional staff with routine tasks.
- Retain training and instructions to become self-sufficient and continue to develop in the role.
- Support quality policies and procedures and maintain the quality of work.
- Follow safety policies and procedures and participate in near-miss and safety-audit programs.
