Entry-Level Field Technician - Construction Materials Testing

About The Position

Intertek-PSI is seeking an Entry-Level Field Technician I in San Antonio, Texas, to perform construction materials testing, project-specific observations, and site assessment duties under general supervision or by following detailed controlled procedures. The role is part of Intertek-PSI’s construction assurance, testing, and inspection services for civil and commercial construction. The position involves testing materials such as soil and concrete, assessing and reporting data, and documenting site observations and test results.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
Ability to work off shift and overtime as needed.
Ability to lift, move, push, and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently, and occasionally handle more than 50 pounds with assistance.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and discriminate sounds.
Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
Ability to walk and stand for long periods.
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather, including hot and cold temperatures.
Ability to climb occasionally and work at various heights.
Ability to work overnight hours and off shift.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Six months of experience in construction materials or density testing.
ACI Certification.

Responsibilities

Operate testing equipment and conduct tests on soil, concrete, and other materials.
Assess test data and prepare reports.
Use drawings, specifications, and diagrams.
Follow specified methods and perform tasks to make detailed observations of site activities.
Provide limited interpretation of results.
Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
