About The Position

S&ME is seeking an individual to join our Construction Services team in New Albany, Indiana, as a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Supervisor. This role involves managing lab personnel, overseeing daily activities and projects, and ensuring quality and safety in lab operations within a specific area. The position includes scheduling assignments, maintaining equipment, coordinating training and certifications, and supporting business development. It balances team leadership with a higher personal utilization goal, focusing on client relations, quality assurance, and operational efficiency. The role also contributes to the construction services and geotechnical team through field and project management. Key responsibilities include: Team Supervision: Oversee lab staff in testing, equipment maintenance, calibrations, and daily operations. Project Management: Handle Construction Materials Testing and Special Inspection projects, including proposal development, budgeting, scheduling, and report delivery. Scheduling & Coordination: Manage staff schedules and collaborate with Field Supervisors and Project Managers on project progress. Training & Certification: Train employees on lab processes and ensure they maintain necessary certifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of combined experience in geotechnical and construction materials testing.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory, management, or leadership role.
  • Proficient in computer technology.
  • Proficient in mechanical testing equipment.
  • Must comply with Fleet Management, Substance Policy, and Reference Check requirements.
  • Must have valid employment eligibility (I-9).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering or other closely related technical fields.
  • Active industry-related certifications, such as American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician.
  • Active industry-related certifications, such as International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils).

Responsibilities
