About The Position

The Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Laboratory Manager plays a pivotal role in efficiently coordinating all laboratory activities to ensure work is completed on time and in accordance with project requirements and safety standards. Responsible for the quality and safety of construction materials and structures, the CMT Laboratory Manager oversees laboratory operations, staff, and equipment while developing technical procedures and maintaining accreditation standards (USACE, AMRL, CCRL). This multifaceted position involves implementing safety regulations, performing necessary maintenance and testing, and ensuring adherence to industry standards, making it essential to the successful completion of construction projects. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dynamic team in ensuring the quality and safety of construction materials, contributing to the successful completion of construction projects. You may also travel to various job sites and work in all types of terrain and weather conditions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a construction related field.
  • Minimum 5 years working in a construction materials or geotechnical laboratory.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure laboratory safety procedures are followed and staff are properly trained in equipment use and testing procedures.
  • Coordinate daily laboratory operations to meet project schedules, client requirements, and quality standards.
  • Supervise, train, and develop laboratory staff while maintaining company and safety standards.
  • Oversee testing of soils, concrete, asphalt, aggregates, and other construction materials.
  • Communicate with clients, project teams, and field personnel regarding testing needs and results.
  • Assist with project scopes, estimates, and proposals for laboratory services.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, including required calibrations and preventative maintenance.
  • Identify and implement improvements to laboratory processes, efficiency, and testing accuracy.
  • Ensure laboratory accreditation requirements are met through proper documentation, testing, and quality control practices.
  • Review and approve laboratory test results and reports for accuracy and compliance.
