About The Position

The Construction Materials Scale Master oversees the daily operation of LHC's truck scale facilities, providing accurate weighing, documentation, inventory tracking, and customer service for aggregate, asphalt, recycled materials, and other construction products. This position plays a key role in supporting production, trucking, quality control, and accounting by maintaining accurate records and efficient truck flow. The Scale Manager works closely with truck drivers, dispatch, plant operators, project managers, and customers to keep materials moving safely, accurately, and efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in truck scale operations, aggregate or asphalt production, dispatch, inventory management, or construction materials operations.
  • Experience using computerized truck scale software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Office 365.
  • Ability to learn ERP, dispatch, and inventory management systems.
  • Strong data entry accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to retain large amounts of information.
  • Ability to maintain composure in a high stress environment.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the aggregate, asphalt, ready-mix concrete, mining, or heavy civil construction industry is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with systems such as SMS Turbo, Command Alkon, Libra, or similar scale software is preferred.
  • Experience working in the heavy civil construction industry.
  • Knowledge of Montana DOT truck weight regulations.
  • Experience with aggregate inventory management.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.
  • Valid Montana driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Operate computerized truck scale systems for all inbound and outbound vehicles.
  • Accurately weigh aggregate, recycled materials, and other construction products.
  • Verify truck information, material type, customer information, and destination before issuing weight tickets.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions.
  • Prepare and issue weight tickets, bills of lading, shipping documents, and delivery records.
  • Verify ticket accuracy before materials leave the facility.
  • Submit daily production and shipping reports to accounting and management.
  • Maintain electronic and paper records in accordance with company policies.
  • Track daily inventory levels for aggregates, sand, gravel, and other materials.
  • Assist with inventory reconciliations and stockpile reporting.
  • Work with plant personnel to identify inventory variances.
  • Monitor production and shipment volumes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for truck drivers, contractors, and customers arriving at the facility.
  • Answer questions regarding loads, pricing, delivery tickets, and operating hours.
  • Resolve routine issues professionally while maintaining efficient traffic flow.
  • Verify trucks comply with Montana and federal DOT weight regulations.
  • Monitor truck loading practices to reduce overweight loads.
  • Enforce site traffic patterns and facility safety requirements.
  • Report unsafe conditions or operating concerns immediately.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports including: Tons shipped, Customer sales, Inventory balances, Truck counts, Production summaries.
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with Dispatch, Trucking Operations, Plant Managers, Quality Control, Accounting, and Sales.
  • Assist with scheduling truck traffic during peak production periods.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase efficiency and accuracy.
