About The Position

We are looking for a Construction Field Technician to join our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) team. This is a hands-on, outdoor position working on active construction sites to help verify that roads, buildings, and infrastructure are built correctly. No prior testing experience is required — we provide training and pay for industry certifications. This position is a great opportunity for someone interested in starting a career in construction, engineering, or infrastructure inspection.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Interest in construction, engineering, or field work
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 85 pounds and remain active throughout the workday
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

• Previous construction experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Travel to construction sites in the Fredericksburg region to perform field testing of soil, concrete, and other construction materials
• Work alongside contractors, engineers, and inspectors on active construction projects
• Perform basic field tests using specialized equipment and industry procedures
• Document test results and site observations using a tablet or field reports
• Communicate with project managers and field supervisors regarding testing needs or site conditions
• Maintain and properly use testing equipment while following safety standards
