About The Position

S&ME is looking for an eager and dedicated full-time Construction Materials Laboratory Technician to join our Construction Services team in our New Albany, Indiana, lab. As a Construction Materials Laboratory Technician, your role is crucial in ensuring the quality and reliability of our projects while performing routine laboratory testing of construction materials under the observation of experienced technicians and professionals. You will be responsible for reporting test results accurately and comprehensively, often reviewing the test results of junior staff. Additionally, you will be responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness while assisting with calibrations. Proficiency with electronic reporting software and knowledge of testing requirements are essential.

Requirements

High School diploma/GED, Related vocational training, a plus
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a construction materials laboratory
ACI Concrete Laboratory Testing Technician Level II required
Effective math skills with a strong understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

Nice To Haves

Additional active industry certifications, a plus:
American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician
International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)

Responsibilities

Perform and report findings of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt testing in the laboratory under minimal observation of more experienced technicians and/or professionals.
Maintain testing equipment in good working order and perform maintenance and calibration.
May assign testing to other staff on small to medium projects and perform a preliminary review of their testing results.
