About The Position

TTL is seeking a Construction Materials Field Technician for its Decatur or Huntsville, Alabama office. The role monitors, observes, and samples materials used in construction; performs routine field and laboratory tests and inspections to verify conformity with construction plans and specifications; follows proper procedures and performs accurate computations; prepares daily reports and data sheets; and maintains cordial relationships with coworkers, clients, and contractors. The technician works with close to moderate supervision. No experience is required; the stated starting pay is $18 per hour, with higher pay possible for candidates with field experience. TTL will pay for certifications, which can support higher pay, added responsibility, and career advancement. The job involves demanding work but offers the opportunity to contribute to community improvements. Employment is full-time and subject to pre-employment drug and motor vehicle record checks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing.
Good driving record.
Ability to perform heavy lifting of 50 or more pounds.
Ability to work outdoors in hot or cold environments.

Nice To Haves

College coursework or a degree emphasizing physical sciences and/or math.
One year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt.
